June 30th, 2009Interested members will be taking a field trip to the San Francisco church for their 11:00 worship service, followed by coffee hour. Anyone who would like to join us, please let me know! Linda
Our visit was wonderful — we were so warmly welcomed! For me it was “old home week” and I loved being back in the sanctuary where I worshiped weekly for 15 years. I look forward to having the San Francisco folks visit us! Click on “1 comment” below to read Eileen’s impression of the day.
Also, the El Cerrito Fourth of July Festival was lots of fun! We handed out flyers and talked to many people about Hillside. The free lemonade was very popular. Thank you Eileen, Carol Anne, Moose, Christina, Annamarie, Johnscot, Lesley, Kathy, Amy and Ishak for helping!

Our trip to the San Francisco church was fruitful. The people in the congregation there were very welcoming and friendly. It was interesting to attend a more “traditional” service than we are used to. I found peace in the setting but in a different way than I find peace in our own church. The building is beautiful but dark and quiet, then the organ roars to life and echoes against the stone walls – as compared to the light of our glass walls and the peace of scampering squirrels, the hummingbirds, the grazing deer, and of course Neville joining us in the sanctuary. Both churches are close to nature but in different ways.
