Contra Costa Chorale

Founded in 1966 as the Richmond Community Chorus, the Contra Costa Chorale is now a community chorus affiliated with Contra Costa College. The chorus numbers between 40 & 60 voices for a particular concert set and has an extended membership of 100+ singers. Some are regulars; others join when they can create time for singing amid the everyday concerns of work, family, and life in general.

Please look at www.ccchorale.org for more information about the Chorale.
Throughout the year, and especially over the winter holidays, the chorus and/or smaller ensembles can be hired to sing at your event or place of business. The proceeds from these performances make up a significant portion of our non-profit operating expenses, and are a delightful way for the Chorale to interact with the broader community.
Our challenging music makes some sight-reading ability or previous choral experience valuable, but we view enthusiasm and dedication as the most important platforms for improving as a singer. Although no formal audition is required, prospective new members typically meet briefly with the conductor after the first rehearsal they attend. This gives the conductor a chance to welcome the singer and place him or her in the most appropriate section of the Chorale. Auditions are ongoing. All voices are welcome!
The full chorus meets Monday nights from 7:15 to 9:45 at the Hillside Community Church, 1422 Navellier in El Cerrito. Soprano/Alto and Tenor/Bass sectionals take place on alternate Wednesday evenings from 7:15 to 8:45, also at Hillside.
Tax-deductible dues are $25 per month, for an eight-month year. Dues and registration take place at rehearsals in El Cerrito. No singer is turned away because of an inability to pay.
